A phone rang inside Lodge Co.
Brian glanced at his plone on the desk and saw it was a call from Ariana.
Brian instinctively wanted to answer. But just as his hand reached out, he stopped.
Answering so quickly would make him seem too eager. He couldn't let Ariana think she could manipulate him.
He recalled how he had ignored her calls countless times before. So, now, he decided to leave her hanging for a
moment.
Finally, just as the ringing was about to stop, he picked up the call and feigned impatience. “What do you want?!
There was no response from the other side, only the faint sound of car engines in the background.

Brian frowned. “Ariana?“-
A second later, the call was abruptly cut off.
Brian's frown deepened and he returned the call. But this time, the phone was turned off.
His expression darkened. He called for Emily. “Emily, cin!”
“Yes, Mr. Lodge?” Emily entered, only to see Brian grabbing his coat. “What's going on?”
“Find out where Ariana has been today,” Brian ordered.
“Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily quickly dialed Gwen’s number, but before she could speak, Brian snatched the phone and
asked directly, “Where is Ariana?”
“Ariana?” Gwen replied in confusion. “She went out this afternoon. Why? Isn't she with you?”
Realizing Gwen had no idea of Ariana’s whereabouts, Brian hung up.
Gwen was puzzled, Where could Ariana have gone?
In the underground garage, Brian tossed his phone back to Emily. “Check if Ariana went shopping or visited any
restaurants today.”
Based on Gwen's information, Ariana had left in the afternoon, so she might currently be dining somewhere.
Just then, a car entered the garage, and Evelyn stepped out. “Brian!”
Brian stopped. He turned and frowned at Evelyn. “Why are you here?”
“I... | cto pick you up from work,” Evelyn tried to keep her tone light. She didn’t want to bring up how Victor
and Ariana humiliated her at the restaurant earlier. But she was still upset and decided to seek comfort in Brian.
However, he remained indifferent. “I have something to do today. You should head back first.”

Evelyn hesitated. She had been with Ariana earlier but grew wary remembering the incident with Victor.
