Chapter 847: To her relief, Colton didn't suggest involving Allison in the matter of the medicine. “I'll go to the lab myself," he said flatly. "You don't need to come. Stay here." His face was as cold and unreadable as ever. At that moment, Melany felt like she meant nothing to him, as though she were no better than a stranger in his eyes. For the first time, she felt truly broken inside.

Although she had first approached Colton with ulterior motives, her feelings for him had slowly grown real after they'd been together for so many years. But now, he treated her as if she didn't matter.

Suddenly, Melany's face turned ghostly pale. Her hands flew to her stomach as a wave of pain hit her, and cold sweat drenched her skin. "Colton, my stomach hurts..." she gasped.

At first, Colton assumed she was putting on an act. But when he noticed her trembling and the genuine pain on her face, his expression shifted. His brow tightened with concern. “Don't move. I'll take you to the hospital,” he said sharply.

As he helped her, his thoughts darkened. No matter what, it was still his child. Without wasting a moment, Colton called for an ambulance and rushed her to the nearest hospital. During the ride, beads of cold sweat glistened on Melany's forehead, and her breathing cin short, labored gasps.

She held his hand weakly, her voice faint as she begged, "Colton, promiseyou won't leave me, okay?" Colton stayed by her side, but he avoided giving her a direct response. "I'm here,” he said quietly.

Carefully, he pried her fingers off his hand. “You should focus on resting. The baby is what matters most right now," he added.

But back then, he hadn't shown her any kindness. Instead, he had deliberately claimed that he had stomach trouble and cruelly forced her to cook for him, knowing she was struggling. Even so, Allison had never complained. "It's fine,” she used to say. "I owe you this." She had said it so many times.

Colton felt nothing but annoyance. He couldn't recall a single the had done anything for Allison when they were younger. It had always seemed to him that she wasn't truly looking at him, but rather clinging to him as a reminder of someone else. In those days, his attitude toward her had been cold and dismissive.

He had once told her, “Allison, no I matter what you do will never like e you

Now, as the memory resurfaced, a dull ache spread through his chest. The truth was, he had never really hated her. He had eaten every meal e she gooked, no matter how indifferent he seemed. In fact, when he realized he was falling for Allison - feelings he believed were wrong - he had lashed out. He had hurt her and tortured himself in the process, refusing to admit the truth.
