Chapter 243 Saving the Princess Consort
They reminisced about the past and chatted for a while.
However, there was still much to handle outside, and Oliver had to attend to his duties.

As for Anthony, after giving the elixir to the girl in green, he slipped away to take care of his affairs. When he
heard from the household that the princess consort had already been killed, he initially wanted to report to Doug
that she was still alive. But recalling the girl’s earnest plea, he ultimately held his tongue.
However, he couldn't keep secrets for long. Seizing a moment when no one was around, he quietly slipped into
Isolde’s room.
“Are you feeling any better?” Anthony asked as he sat on the stool by the bed. Wiping the sweat from his
forehead, he reached down to wring the water from his clothes.
“I took the medicine, so I'm feeling better,” Isolde replied. Noticing the blood on his arm, she asked, “Have you
treated your wound?”
“It's nothing!” Anthony only now noticed the cut on his arm, recalling that he had taken a slash earlier. But since
the wound wasn’t deep, he paid it no mind.
“How is it?” Isolde asked, looking at him with interest.
“What do you mean?” Anthony asked, a little puzzled.
“How did it feel to be in battle?” Isolde asked.
Thinking back to the fight, Anthony scoffed, “That was supposed to be a battle? It felt more like a street -brawl to
a,
He chuckled, revealing his white teeth.
“Of course, this was a battle. It was a dangerous one at that. Though, there are wars far more perilous than
today’s,” Isolde said.
Anthony glanced at her. “Have you fought in many battles? How do you know so much?”
Isolde nodded. “Life itself is a battle. You're either fighting others or fighting yourself.”
Anthony frowned. “Too complicated. | don’t get it.”
Isolde chuckled. “Not understanding is a good thing. But eventually, you will.”
Anthony shook his head. “I don’t get that either.”
His life was simple. If he liked something, he pursued it. If he didn’t, he fought it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhen they were younger, he had once fought Isolde in private, with no one else around. He lost but refused to
admit defeat. In the end, Isolde beat him soundly, pinning him to the grass and demanding that he surrender.
He didn’t say anything, and Isolde took his silence as surrender. She let him go, and both of them, exhausted, lay
on the grass. He chewed on a dry blade of grass, staring up at the endless blue sky. At that moment, he thought
that Isolde would be his lifelong enemy that he would spend his whole life going

After that, he often dreamed of being pinned down by her, her fierce voice demanding his surrender. For the
longest time, he believed it was a nightmare. But later, he realized that from beginning to end, it had always
been a beautiful dream.
Those days were gone, never to return, and so was that wild, untamedagirl, like the wind itself.
Back then, her love and hate were fierce and unmistakable. She would glare at him with wide, determined eyes
and throw a punch without hesitation. When she laughed, it was loud and carefree, like the ringing of silver bells,
so bright and clear that it could probably be heard all the way to his village.
But now, looking at her, she seemed so composed, sometimes even distant. It felt as if she had lived through too
much, becoming someone entirely different. She was no longer the reckless girl from Belleview Manor who had
never known the hardships of the world.
And she no longer laughed like that.
For the first tin his life, Anthony found himself in deep contemplation.
It wasn’t until Isolde asked, “Why did you clooking for me?” that he remembered he wasn’t here just to
check on her.
Glancing back to make sure no one was around, he lowered his voice and said, “People here are saying that
Kamari killed his wife because she refused to take part in his rebellion. But | saw her in the back courtyard. She's
still alive, barely hanging on, with her daughter by her side. | asked Oliver for medicine and gave it to her, so she
should survive. But her daughter beggednot to tell anyone. What do you think | should do?”
Isolde listened quietly. She had thought it was Ashley who killed her, but she hadn't expected it to be Kamari
himself who had taken her life.
She knew this woman. She had a gentle and kind-hearted soul.
It was true. She had nothing to do with Kamari’s rebellion.
After a long moment of contemplation, Isolde finally spoke. “Since everyone believes she’s dead, let her remain
that way. Do you have any money? Help them escape in secret. Have them change their appearances. Hector
and my uncle will likely order a full search of the estate soon, so they must leave as soon as possible.”
“Me? Escort them?” Anthony was momentarily stunned.
Isolde let out a soft sigh. “Life is bitter. If you can lend a hand, then do it. This isn’t a matter of principle. There's
no harm in helping. Go on.”
Hearing her words, Anthony glanced at his sleeve pocket, where he still had around twenty taels of silver, and
said, “That should be enough.”
“Good. Tell them not to go back for anything. Wealth is just an external possession. What matters most is their
lives. They need to escape, find a safe place, and keep a low profile,” Isolde instructed.
Anthony hesitated. “But the princess consort is seriously injured. | can’t get them both out on my own.”
“Find Vincenzo and ask for his help. Ill inform our master that you're being sent out on an errand,” Isolde
instructed.
Anthony nodded. “Alright, I'll go now.”

Vincenzo was known for handling matters reliably. When he and the others returned, they had brought an ox cart
with them. So, after hearing Anthony relay Isolde’s instructions, Vincenzo immediately pulled the ox cart around
to the back gate. He then went to the servants’ quarters, grabbed a few sets of clothing, and handed them to
the girl in green. “Change into these, and help the princess consort change as well.
This girl in green was the youngest daughter of Kamari’s consort, Princess Wilona. She had just turned 15 this
year.
Though young, she was more mature than her older siblings. When chaos erupted in the estate and her mother
was suddenly taken away, she quietly followed. She climbed onto a high platform and hid behind a pillar,
witnessing Ashley strike down her mother with her own eyes.
Any other fifteen-year-old girl might have screamed in terror at such a sight. But Winona did not. She clamped a
hand over her mouth, tears streaming silently down her face as she carefully climbed down.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe had completely given up on her dignity as a princess when she begged Anthony just now.
She had thought about doing whatever it took, even sacrificing herself, to help her mother escape.
But to her surprise, Anthony did not ask for anything in return. Instead, he simply took her and her mother
away.
As the ox cart pulled farther from Kamari’s estate, she glanced back just once. Then, she lowered her head,
focusing on tending to her unconscious mother.
Vincenzo and Anthony Bentley took the mother and daughter to East Bridge Town, found a simple inn, and
rented a room for a month so they could recover.
One month cost two taels of silver. The two men emptied their pockets and gave Wilona all they had, totaling
over thirty taels.
Anthony repeatedly warned her, “The Marshal has made it clear. You must never return to Zloimond City after
escaping. She let you go in secret. If you go back and are caught, you'll drag her down with you. So once your
mother recovers, flee somewhere safe and live quietly. This silver isn’t much, but it should be enough to sustain
you for a year. This is as far as we can help. The rest is up to you.”
After all she had been through, Wilona had developed a deep wariness toward others. But she had not expected
to encounter such kindness. She dared not accept the silver and quickly pushed it back, saying, “There's no
need. | have kept my mother’s and my own hair ornaments. Selling them will fetch us a few hundred taels. | am
forever indebted to you both and the Marshal. | will never forget this kindness. If there is a next life, | will repay
you.”
Anthony firmly pressed the silver into her hands. “Your mother still needs a doctor. Take it for now. Save your
jewelry and sell it only after you've settled somewhere safe.”
With that, he grabbed Vincenzo and strode away.
Tears welled in Wilona's eyes as she called out, “You're my benefactor. What's your name?”
“Anthony! And don’t callbenefactor!” he shouted back without turning around.
